About Phil

Phil Kuban has been involved with the franchising industry for twenty years and has a very diversified background, having been both a franchisee and a franchisor. Based on his experiences, Phil founded FranMax in 1987, a brokerage and consulting company developing such franchises in the Southeast as Mail Boxes, Etc., Moto Photo and Sylvan Learning Centers, to name a few.

Collectively, he has helped over five hundred investors start a franchised business, the majority being first-time buyers. Phil specializes in franchise resales, helping owners value and sell their existing businesses and building value for the franchise system in the area.

Phil started his career with 3M Company and held various sales and marketing positions. He first became exposed to franchising while working at 3M, building a distribution network of Energy Control Centers. He recognized early on that franchising is the best choice for most people seeking to own their own business. Being in business for yourself but not by yourself is as true now as it was then.

Phil graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a BS degree in marketing. He lives in greater Atlanta with his wife Susan, who is a professional portrait painter. His daughter Leslie is his partner in his FranNet business and his son Scott attends Kennesaw State University.
