Mother’s Day Spectacular – What Franchising Can Do for Moms

For those of you who still haven’t rushed out to get a greeting card, FranNet is here to remind you that Sunday is Mother’s Day. Personally, we think it’s deserving to say that every day should be Mother’s Day. But, here’s a brief history lesson on how our country came to dedicate this tradition. According to the website History.com:

The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908. By 1912 many states, towns and churches had adopted Mother’s Day as an annual holiday, and Jarvis had established the Mother’s Day International Association to help promote her cause. Her persistence paid off in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson signed a measure officially establishing the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.

It’s worth a footnote to say that Anna Jarvis eventually became disillusioned with all the commercialism which rose up to surround Mother’s Day. So, maybe don’t rush out and get that card and flowers after all? In searching for a way to tie Mother’s Day into what we do, we thought we’d list a few advantages in what franchising can do for the Moms out there.

A common refrain we hear during our consultation sessions with prospective franchisees is how they have a desire to do business on their own terms. The biggest factor is time. If you’re working a steady 9-to-5 job, as we all know, your 40 hours a week represents a tremendous block of your schedule. If you’re a mom, it means separation from your children and family. We hear a lot of budding entrepreneurs speculate on how they’ll be able to free up their scheduling once in charge of a business of their own.

Another benefit of franchising for moms is the legacy business angle. A lot of prospective franchisees come to us explaining that they’d like to begin a family business for the express purpose of one day turning it over to their children to run. The thinking behind this strategy is usually driven by a desire to avoid seeing their children struggle to find suitable employment along with the satisfaction of building something that’s completely yours, as opposed to working for someone else.

Let’s face a clear fact. Moms want to mom. They’ll tell you that their children are the most precious resource and the biggest sense of accomplishment in their lives. What better way to honor that sentiment than to find a business proposition which allows them the most freedom to do so? Time is such a crucial component and ally when you’re able to become your own boss. Whether running the franchise as a full-time owner, or even semi-absentee, you’re in charge of how you allot your time. Much to the benefit of child-rearing, if you catch our drift.

As we can see, a personal entrepreneurial journey into the world of franchising comes with many benefits for working moms out there. That’s not to say that it’s the easiest route, but it does put the power of time back in the hands of those who would procure it for the greater good of family progress.

What could be more honorable than a scenario like that? If you want to find out how franchising can positively alter the family dynamic for your benefit, we have some answers waiting for you.
